No trip to Trujillo will be complete without a visit to this list of places that we present below.

 

Huaca del Sol y de La Luna

It is made up of two large truncated pyramids Cubed at 8km. From the city of Trujillo, in the Campiña de Moche, the Huaca del Sol looks intact in front of the investigated Huaca de la Luna, which was a center of religious power developed in stages between the years 100 and 900 AD.

Ciudadela de Chan Chan

Chan Chan declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as it is one of the most important archaeological sites in Peru because it has temples, palaces and tombs built with mud partitions dried in the sun. When visiting this place you can have access to the Huaca Esmeralda and the Huaca el Dragón.

IMPORTANT DATA

  • From Trujillo: 20 min by taxi or taking a combi to Huanchaco (you have to tell the driver that you are going down to Chan Chan).
  • Open from 9am to 5:00pm. The museum is closed on Mondays.
 

Plaza de Armas de Trujillo

Trujillo's Plaza de Armas is a large public square located in the historic center of the city and surrounded by buildings from the Spanish colonial legacy. Visit the square to admire its architecture, take part in annual festivals and relax on a bench in the shade of a tree.

Museo Antropología e Historia de la UNT

Iglesia "Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria del Socorro"

It is located in the upper part of the Huanchaco spa, it was the second oldest temple in Peru, after the chapel of San Lucas in Colan, Piura; It houses the image of the Virgen de la Candelaria, the first religious image brought to Peru by the Spaniards, in order to make conversion to the Catholic religion easier in this northern area.
